We love wool!!!!

"Farming Monthly National HRH The Prince of Wales announces global Campaign for Wool"

My wonderful students! (and my IA Jackie!)

We created this power point to send to the Teen Parent Program so that the moms could see the kids making the items for their children. We delivered our first "batch" Friday, and it was a HUGE success!! The parents were amazed and appreciative of my students and their Fiber Art--I'm so proud of them!!!

Mega-FABULOUS!

My new project: Mega-scarf!! Making one for Susie right now; I'll post pics soon!

This one is:
Triple strands of mohair with size 50 needles. It took six skeins altogether.

Susie's will be double strands of mohair with size 50 needles and take four skeins (I think!).

Save your crocheting hands!!!

I'm going to design a prototype for ergonomical knitting needles. I've learned that constant knitting with small needles is not so good for my hands!

New projects--finished!

I'll have patterns available at our October Knit-Knite for those who are interested! Both projects were quick and were great for using leftover yarn! I think I'm going to start including the dog with baby booties and layette sets. Too cute! The clutch purse was fun. . .but next time I don't know that I would use mohair. I'll need something a bit stiffer! :o)

My goal for January, 2012. . .

Just to attend the beginner classes I need to know how to cable, use double-pointed needles, and do a few more things I've not tried yet. So, instead of trying to learn it all in four months, I've decided to save up and learn how to do all this by the next year's event!

I'm so excited!!

Hometown USA yarn. . .found it!!

I've been ordering it online or getting it @ Ben Franklin Crafts in Springfield. Well, tonight I stopped at Fred Meyer in Keizer/Salem off the Parkway and stumbled into a YARN SECTION!!! They have a small, but good selection--and ALL of the Hometown USA colors!! They are on sale for $3.49/skein until Aug. 14th!! I picked up Oakland Black. I'm hoping to get a few more before the sale ends!!

I've finished four dishcloths now, and am making SLOW progress on my sweater shell, but I've started thinking Christmas/Fall and I'm making this vest for my gramma! Michaels has a new yarn--ROVING--and I'm doing it in a sage green color. I'll post some pictures after I get further than casting on! :o)

More pictures from the Alpaca Farm!!

Rain man loved giving everyone kisses. Because he's "too friendly", he had to become a gelding--if he hadn't, he would have died of loneliness. Because he was a male, when he became mature, he was too aggressive. Now that he's a gelding, he can hang out with another male and not be aggressive! yay for that! :o)

Here's all of us (except mom) getting kisses.

We LOVE Alpacas!!!

The Humming Pines Alpaca Ranch was WONDERFUL today!! We learned so much about alpacas, bought beautiful yarn, and made a new friend in Michelle! Her animals were friendly and gorgeous! And the yarn is softer than anything I've had so far!

Check them out at www.hummingpinesalpacas.com

The pictures are:
Rain Man (black) and his awesome bottom teeth--alpacas don't have upper teeth and they are vulnerable to predators, so Michelle and her husband have a special dog and double fences to keep them safe!
Rain Man and Sirroco: they hang out together--alpacas can actually DIE from loneliness, so you always need two! Who knew???

We had a wonderful weekend adventure!! Can't wait till the next!
